In 2009, as the next president of the United States is inaugurated into
office, the New Brunswick Free Public Library will present to the public
“John Adams Unbound,” an exhibition of the second President of the
United States’ library. The New Brunswick Free Public Library is the
first of only twenty libraries in the nation to host this exhibit. After
the exhibit leaves New Brunswick, it will cross the country until
returning to Boston in 2012.

“John Adams Unbound” will be on display in the library from January 26
to March 6, 2009. The exhibition will feature selections from John
Adam’s personal library, as well as graphics, maps, portraits, and photo
reproductions of personal objects. The collection provides first-hand
insight into how John Adams shaped American history and how he was
shaped by his own moment in history through his lifelong dedication to
reading and books.

A series of programming will accompany “John Adams Unbound” featuring
lectures by local historians and a history theatre presentation for
youth featuring the characters of John and Abigail Adams.

Awarded to the New Brunswick Free Public Library by the National
Endowment for the Humanities, “John Adams Unbound” was developed by the
American Library Association and Boston Public Library. For more
information about the “John Adams” exhibition, please contact Laura
Szalaj at 732-745-5108, ext. 20, or by email at Lszalaj@lmxac.org.
