The Youth Services Librarian provides professional customer service to
children, teens and adults.

A Youth Services Librarian must have a thorough knowledge of the
principles, practices and techniques of modern library operation; reader
interest levels; children's and young adult literature; library system
computer applications; library reference materials and research
techniques; and establish and maintain effective working relationships
with library customers and staff; and communicate ideas effectively both
orally and in writing.
Education and experience:
A Youth Services Librarian must have a Master's degree in library
science from an ALA accredited library school and some public library
experience.

A Youth Services Intern must be matriculating and have completed at
least eighteen credit hours in an ALA-accredited Masters in Library
Science program with a specialization in youth services and literature.
salary:
With MLS: $24.73/hr. and up, depending on experience.
Intern: $18.55/hr.
